In 1903, a man named Harry Wolhuter was traveling on a familiar path between watering holes in South Africa. Harry was on horseback with a dog following when he was attached by 2 hungry lions! The story is a pulse pounding tale of the will to survive, while keeping your wits about you in the most dire situation imaginable…to avoid being eaten alive! As the name of the knife may give away, Harry survived the encounter by using his knife to fight back on the lion posing the immediate risk to his life… but the story of what happened from the moment of attack to the end is astonishing. We covered it in this video. It's an amazing story of surviving an attack from a wild predator.
After Dirk Loots, himself a South African, told the story to the other members of Pop’s Knife Supply… they wanted to make their own versions of the famous knife from the story. The result is an amazing display of how different makers can take the same pattern, but when their individual style is applied, it becomes uniquely their own.
